We wrote this policy in plain English. We collect only what we need to run the service, we do not sell your data to anyone, and you can ask us to delete everything about you at any time.
HiDenmark is a free onboarding guide for newcomers settling in Denmark. It is operated by an individual based in Kolding, Denmark.
Data controller: HiDenmark
Contact: hello@hidenmark.dk
Location: Kolding, Denmark
As the data controller, we are responsible for deciding how and why your personal data is processed. This policy explains what we do with any data you provide when using HiDenmark.
We collect the minimum data needed to provide the service. Here is exactly what we collect and when:
| Data | When collected | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Your first name | When you create an account | Yes — to personalise your experience |
| Email address | When you create an account | Yes — used as your login identifier |
| Password (hashed) | When you create an account | Yes — stored as a one-way hash, never readable |
| Task progress | When you tick tasks in the tracker | Yes — this is the core purpose of the service |
| Account creation date | Automatically on signup | Yes — for account management |
We do not collect your location, phone number, payment information, nationality, immigration status, or any other sensitive personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not use tracking pixels.
Under GDPR, we must have a legal basis for processing personal data. Here is ours:
We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond running the onboarding tracker. We do not send newsletters or promotional emails unless you explicitly opt in (which we do not currently offer).
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove everything within 30 days. There are no backups retained beyond that period.
| Data type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Account details (name, email) | Until you delete your account |
| Task progress | Until you delete your account |
| Password hash | Until you delete your account |
| All data after deletion request | Removed within 30 days |
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Ever.
We use one third-party service to store your data securely:
We may be required to share data with law enforcement or regulatory authorities if legally compelled to do so under Danish or EU law. We would notify you in advance where legally permitted.
As someone whose data we hold, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). All of these can be exercised by emailing us at hello@hidenmark.dk.
We will respond to all requests within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) at datatilsynet.dk.
HiDenmark uses only a single essential cookie to keep you logged in between sessions (a session token). We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| session_token | Keeps you logged in | 30 days, or when you log out |
Because we use only strictly necessary cookies, we do not require a cookie consent banner under Danish and EU law. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking tools.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data:
No system is completely secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to hello@hidenmark.dk and we will address it promptly.
HiDenmark is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email. Continuing to use HiDenmark after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
We will never use your data in ways that are materially different from what is described here without giving you clear notice and the opportunity to delete your account first.
